Mechatronics Engineer - IOT Devices

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a global leader in  IoT solutions to find a talented Mechatronics Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This organization designs practical, reliable technology that helps industrial and commercial operators save time, reduce operating costs, and manage remote assets effectively across demanding outdoor environments worldwide.

In this hands-on role, you will sit at the core of the engineering team, providing vital product development and lifecycle support for both brand-new product development (NPD) and existing hardware lines. You will work closely with verification and validation teams to ensure our award-winning devices remain rugged, reliable, and ready for rapid deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new product development (NPD) initiatives from early prototype design through to manufacturing release, applying robust mechatronics principles.

  • Provide ongoing engineering support, optimization, and lifecycle management for existing core products.

  • Collaborate directly with firmware, cloud, hardware, and verification teams to troubleshoot hardware anomalies and implement design enhancements.

  • Build physical prototypes, test fixtures, and  assemblies for rapid experimentation and design iteration along with the V&V team.

  • Apply systems-level thinking to evaluate electronic assemblies, simulate failure scenarios, and verify system durability and work on fixes with the dedicated teams.

  • Contribute to NPD using 3D modelling, 3D printing, Embedded Software (C/C++) and PCBA design.

Skills and Requirements

  • Formal background in mechatronics engineering, welcoming exceptional graduates with standout project portfolios or professionals with around two years of commercial experience.

  • Strong technical foundation in sensors, electronic controllers, connections, and communication protocols.

  • Practical programming skills using Python, C/C++, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi for hardware scripting and development.

  • A natural tinkerer who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys working directly with physical hardware and embedded systems.

  • Previous exposure to the automotive, aerospace, or advanced hardware sectors is highly regarded.

Benefits and Rewards

  • Join one of the fastest growing start-up/scale-up businesses in Australia

  • An autonomous, cross-functional role where you can directly influence hardware architecture and drive new product innovation.

  • The opportunity to work with award-winning, rugged technology deployed across remote locations utilizing advanced satellite and cellular networks.

  • Join a team with some of the most passionate and skilled Engineers in Australia
