Technical Product Manager - HPC

The Opportunity
At Talent Aligned, we partner with technology organizations pushing the boundaries of infrastructure. We are currently representing a specialized infrastructure provider operating in regulated environments. Every deliverable they produce must stand up to rigorous customer audits.
Engineering throughput is not their constraint. Specification quality is.
A significant portion of their implementation is written by AI coding agents against written requirements, meaning precision is paramount. A vague requirement does not simply slow the team down: it ships the wrong product at high speed.
We are looking for a technical professional who has transitioned into a Product Manager or Product Owner role, ideally within a startup environment. You must have a foundational background in software development or cloud engineering, possess scripting skills, and understand how to translate complex architectural logic into executable specifications.
What You Will Own
The Customer Path: Manage the end-to-end journey. You will oversee intake, workload specification, the scheduled run, the evidence pack, and the final invoice. This path is deliberately manual today, and you will make it highly repeatable before it is automated.
Executable PRDs: Draft Product Requirements Documents that leave zero room for ambiguity. Every PRD must carry a named owner, a date, an explicit in-scope and out-of-scope list, detailed schema sections (tables, columns, types, migration notes), and numbered, testable functional requirements.
Strict Board Management: Enforce ruthless prioritization. Every item must sit in exactly one of two buckets: unblocks revenue, or keeps the lights on. Anything else is closed immediately. You will enforce a strict limit of two open items per person, including managing upwards to the CEO.
Verification of Claims: Go beyond a green test suite. You will open the live environment, force the system into a failure state, and verify that what the platform claims to a customer matches demonstrable reality.
Candidate Background & Requirements
A foundational background in software development, cloud infrastructure, or systems engineering.
Proven experience in a Product Manager or Product Owner capacity, preferably within a fast-paced start-up environment.
Practical scripting skills and a deep understanding of database schemas, tables, and architectural logic.
Ruthless prioritization skills and the confidence to hold all stakeholders accountable.
Must hold existing Australian work rights (visa sponsorship is not available).
Willingness to work onsite in Sydney on a full-time basis.
Note: The selection process for this role will include a paid work trial to ensure alignment for both parties.
